The process of remote monitoring patient’s conditions like pulse and respiration rates by using the radio technology is known as the wireless medical telemetry services (WMTS). This technology is most useful for hospitals to provide the mobility for patients. It is also more efficient for the nursing staff to keep watching the patient condition and also it is possible to monitor all the patients at the same time. The monitoring process is performed due the wireless sensors that are attached to the patient, transmit data to the nurse’s station or any other centralized station. Instead of sending data as intermittent, it sents continously which helps to identify the location of a particular patient in the hospital.

The FCC has given the interference protected spectra which are used by licensed facilities in health care, physicians and trained technicians. The communications except voice and video are allowed in both directional as well as unidirectional, which shows that all communications are related to the medical field. The wireless medical telemetry services are only be used by a health care facility. At present FCC does not give permission to use equipment of WMTS in homes. A concern which temporarily use this equipment at various locations are difficult for the operating frequencies to coordinate. In future it possible for the FTC announcement to the home use of WMTS, if the home use of this is coordinated effectively.

But some arguments results that when compared to the ISM features, the WMTS is also a small broadcast. In real, many people use both the bands and some uses both bands as one of the part of their telemetry package. The market never address the problems of telemetry like patient-nurse friendly solutions.

The WMTS standard results in migration to the WMTS band which is promoted by FCC. This migration is eventually reach the market in saturation levels which completely leads to the unit shipments decline.
